CIRCULOOS shares insights on supporting circularity for SMEs at the I4MS2 webinar

On March 28, 2025, CIRCULOOS joined fellow projects of the I4MS2 initiative to host a webinar focused on AI for Zero Defect Manufacturing. Anastasia Garbi, CIRCULOOS coordinator, joined the roundtable alongside representatives from WASABI, AIRISE, and AI REDGIO 5.0, where she presented CIRCULOOS’s approach to circular manufacturing.

Garbi explained that CIRCULOOS works to form and optimize bio-based value chains by “optimising the LCA across the production lines of all the suppliers.” The project collects data from materials, processes, and production lines to select and prioritize biochains that meet specific sustainability criteria. She added that AI supports this selection process, and once the biochains are implemented in real production, the resulting data helps improve sustainability, quality, and factory performance.

With a focus on real-world applications, the event brought together industry experts and SMEs to explore how Artificial Intelligence can optimize quality control, from defect detection to predictive maintenance and process optimization, to enhance production efficiency and reliability.

The webinar featured two SME use cases: one focused on metal sheet bending and the other on the application of AI in battery manufacturing. The presentations were followed by a roundtable discussion and a Q&A session with the audience.
