Enabling Secure and Interoperable Data Sharing in Circular Manufacturing
Data is a critical enabler for collaboration across circular manufacturing supply chains. However, manufacturing environments often rely on heterogeneous systems, devices, and data formats, making seamless data exchange between partners a complex challenge. To address this, the CIRCULOOS project has developed a Local Industry 4.0 Data Layer, designed to harmonise and streamline data collection, transformation, and sharing across manufacturing ecosystems.
The platform connects industrial assets, such as sensors, machines, and information systems, via interoperable data agents that translate disparate communication protocols into a common data format. Using technologies such as NGSI-LD standards, the FIWARE Context Broker, and secure identity management, the system enables manufacturing partners to share structured, comparable data while maintaining control over data privacy and access.
By creating a unified data environment, the CIRCULOOS data layer supports advanced project tools, including supply chain optimisation, digital twins, and sustainability assessment, allowing manufacturers to exchange information efficiently and build data-driven, circular supply chains that reduce waste and improve resource efficiency.
